To paraphrase the old E.F. Hutton commercial, “When J.D. Power speaks, people listen.”  And recently, J.D. Power “spoke” in the form of its 2016 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS), which marks the 30th anniversary of this study that consumers, manufacturers, and dealers put great stock in.  The Hyundai brand rated quite well, with several models placing high within their category.  In fact, the Hyundai Accent was rated #1 in the “small car” segment – good news for all of our customers who’ve been eyeing a new Hyundai Accent near Camden, NC.

The Hyundai Accent wasn’t the only Hyundai vehicle to take home top honors in its segment – the Hyundai Azera also rated #1 in the large car segment, with the highest initial quality honors.  And as proof that this was a total team effort, four other Hyundai automobiles placed in the top three in their segments, with the Hyundai Tucson ranking #2, the Hyundai Genesis #3, the Hyundai Veloster #3, and the Hyundai Elantra #3.  In fact, the Hyundai family earned third place in overall auto industry ranking, and finished second amongst non-premium brands.  Yes, it’s safe to say that the Hyundai brand is trending in the right direction.

The IQS is the industry standard for new-vehicle quality, gauged at 90 days of ownership.  This means that according to the IQS, the Hyundai Accent and Hyundai Azera had the least amount of owner-reported problems in their respective categories.  And the IQS is no casual survey – on the contrary, more than 80,000 car buyers/lessees of new 2016 vehicles responded to the IQS’ 233-question survey, which provides invaluable assistance to automakers looking to improve their product by way of consumer dissatisfaction/problem input.
