When it comes to auto show season, few events offer more exciting industry news than the North American International Auto Show held in Detroit every year. For Hyundai, that means showing off all of the new Hyundai vehicles coming down the pipeline, but that isn't the only way the automaker made use of their time in the Motor City this year. While they were there, they also took the time to donate 1,000 new winter coats to impoverished children in the greater Detroit area.

Hyundai has been doing this particular bit of charity work for eight years now, bringing the tally of total coats to 13,000 over the course of that time. This year, though, the coats were donated to Carstens Academy and Orchards Children's Services, and considering no city in American has more children living in poverty than Detroit, this frigid February is a great time to put those quotes to good use.

"We are honored to work with Hyundai Motor America and their commitment to the youth of our community," says, Mike Williams, CEO, Orchards Children's Services. "We believe Hyundai exemplifies the kind of leadership that companies should have, to help communities in need. This year's coat donation will not only keep young bodies warm, but will encourage kids to fulfill their potential through hard work."

As your Elizabeth City car dealer, we never grow tired of hearing stories about this automaker doing excellent things in communities all over the country. Auto show season is always a lot of fun, but it also is really nice to see some good news that has nothing to do with updated models and concept cars. Here at Hall Hyundai Elizabeth City, that's the sort of thing we can get on board with.
